Dr. King is originally from New York. She attended Middlebury College in Vermont, studying biochemistry and religion, before receiving her doctorate from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University. She completed a rotating internship at the University of Guelph near Toronto followed by a three year surgical residency at the University of Pennsylvania. She started her career as a large animal surgeon in a job at the UW School of Veterinary Medicine. Thereafter, she retrained in small animal surgery in private practice and has been the Director of Surgery at the Animal Emergency Center in Glendale, WI for 8 years. She is board certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and received the College's award for the best clinical publication. She has been residing in the Madison area for 10 years with her husband and three kids. She is looking forward to serving her community with quality surgical care of its pets.
What Does Dr Dana King bring to VES?
Dr. King strives to provide the best surgical care for her patients and their families. Her surgical team cares for your pet as though they were our own pets. Dr. King maintains a strong interest in aggressive pain control to improve patient comfort before, during, and after surgery. Dr. King maintains a strong interest in minimally invasive surgical techniques to improve patient comfort and surgical morbidity. She enjoys all areas of surgery but has special interest in orthopedic procedures and surgical oncology.
When is Dr. King available?
Dr. King will be conducting surgery at Veterinary Emergency Service as well as mobile surgeries. She will be available Tuesday - Friday and on call every other weekend. Dr. King welcomes referring veterinarians to contact her directly by phone or by email.
